The backbone of Remote Energy Monitoring's meter and data systems are built upon Oracle systems. The Remote Energy Monitoring Smart OPeration Suite has been built using Oracle's Times Ten In-Memory database technology.
This means that data can be updated, analysed an acted upon in real time.
Oracle's Times Ten database resides entirely in memory; an advantage of this architecture is that it does not have to perform some of the tasks a conventional enterprise database typically performs such as writing data to disk and managing buffer caches.
This results in a simpler technical architecture that requires fewer CPU instructions to process the same amount of data as a disk based relational database, this manifests itself as faster processing times for the same number of transactions. The Oracle Times Ten In-Memory Database implementation delivers the same combination of performance and resilience as the Oracle Database implementation and all transactions are persistent and recoverable; data is always available in memory even after hardware failure.
SMOS in Memory supports load balancing and hot standby; it is fully integrated with bi-directional data replication to and from our Remote Energy Monitoring's data management Oracle database.
