Innovative British Company receives certification for its smart multimode meter

Remote Energy Monitoring, a hi-tech smart metering solutions company has received official certification for its smart Multi Mode Meter. The company manufactures one of the few Ofgem approved smart meters incorporating both smart hardware and software, providing utilities with a complete metering, data and control solution.

In October last year the UK Government announced its plan to mandate smart energy meters for all UK homes. By recording time of use, consumption and automatically transmitting this data to back end systems smart meters are forecast to make a major contribution to energy conservation and reducing energy debt, whilst delivering cost benefits to both consumers and energy suppliers.

This smart meter operates in a variety of modes and is remotely switchable to be either a credit or prepayment meter, which allows utilities to work with customers who are having trouble affording their bills more effectively.

The company has also designed and developed a complete smart metering solution that allows the energy suppliers to manage all data, transactions and operations for a mixed meter, multi-utility estate. Remote Energy Monitoring's on demand GPRS based communications technology allows data and transactions to be securely transmitted in just a few seconds.
